Kota Kinabalu - Day 3

Day three's my favourite part of the trip! That's because we were heading to Sapi Islaannnndddd!!! wooo hoooo!

We stopped by Jesselton Point to hitch a boat ride.

Bought our tickets at Counter number 6.

While waiting for our boat ride, we decided to take some photos to kill time.

Still waiting

Waiting makes you do silly things...

Finally our boat arrived and after a bumpy ride, we were greeted with this sight! YEAY!!!

Obligatory welcome photo.

Clear waters so you can swim with the fishiessss woot!

And swim with the fishies we did!

After spending sometime snorkeling and getting my ass burnt, we then went home...tired but content. :)
Bye bye Sapi Island!

And that concludes my trip to KK! Phew! Oh wait, food pics. Ok ok, next post!

My Birthday!

We interrupt our usual programming for a short update.

So, as you know, my birthday had just passed. And I just wanted to give a big shout out to all my friends who wished me ... Thank you guys.

A special thank you to my parents for taking me out for a nice dinner. :) I know I don't spend enough time with you guys, and I know I don't say this enough, but I love you mom and dad! (Yellowduckie and bro too!)

And a special thank you to my bikenut who made the day all the more special. I know I'm stealing his words, but, on top of all the wonderful presents and yummilicious dinner, the best gift you can give to a person is yourself. So, thank you for brightening my days and catching me when I fall. But most importantly... thank you for being you.

Kota Kinabalu - Day 2

This is taking longer than I expected.... lol. Got caught up with work, hence the lack of updates. :P

So anyways, on Day 2, we joined our awesome hosts at their church and after that, lunch at the Yatch Club with their family.

Baby Arianna also joined us at the church service... and she came with her new toy too!! (Deh and I had just bought her a toy for her pram)

A shot of the lovely couple... so schweeet! We were waiting for our lunch.

The view from our balcony seats. :)
... still waiting for my chicken chop....

Well, my lunch finally arrived... a few hours later. Which then delayed out roadtrip to the Tip of Borneo.

On our way to Kudat!

When we finally arrived at the tip, it was already dark.

We couldn't see much but, what the heck, might as well take some pictures to show we've been there!

Then we headed back home for some yummy Tuaran noodles and Sarawak dumplings. Damn... I miss the food!

Kota Kinabalu - Day 1 continuation

Heya, I'm back with the continuation of my trip to KK. :)

So, after spending loads of time taking photos of Mt Kinabalu and our surroundings, we made our way back down. On the way, we passed by a War Memorial and decided to make a quick stop.

Some old news clippings on the Sandakan Death March... where Australian and British prisoners died marching to Ranau. This memorial was built to commemorate these prisoners of war as well as the Borneo people who risked their lives to help them.

The memorial was made up of a few gardens. This one is the Malaysianised Australian Garden, which, obviously is my favourite!

The Australian garden had a map of Australia and the grass reminded me of spring and summer in Australia where we used to sit on the grass to study or watch some random live band performing for a BBQ party near our residences... gosh, brings back good memories...

We strolled around the memorial and caught a glimpse of Mount KK again admist the sprawling gardens.

After our stop at the War Memorial, we drove down and bought some local fruits and stopped by a local stall for a bite of yummy BBQ chicken. Will share food pics later! :P

At night, we had a nice chinese dinner with Chandra's family to celebrate their niece's full moon. Coincidently, it was also Mooncake Festival, so we could actually see a full moon that night!

After dinner, we headed back to Ah Teng's place and took a dip in her swimming pool.

Enjoying the beautiFULL moon while splashing around in the pool... damn, wish I could do this every night!

Day 2 coming up!

Conquering Kota Kinabalu - Day 1

Ok ok... I know I haven't been updating. To make up for it, I will be rajin to edit more photos for your viewing pleasure!

So, as promised. My sneak peak... was obviously about my maiden trip to Sabah. Which was the bombz!!! (If you haven't already heard)

Deh and I arrived in the arms of our wonderful hosts Teng and Chandra... well in the arms of Teng literally.. Chandra just shook our hands.. (Would've been kinda weird if he hugged us upon meeting us for the first time... lol!)

And Ah Teng took us to her lovely home, and set us up in her guest room.

Our room for the bombz weekend. Comes with complimentary mineral water as well :P Cantik kan?

We arrived pretty late.. past midnight. So we basically just crashed. Next morning we woke up bright and early and got ready for our first adventure - Kundasang!

But before that, we stopped by Damai for breakfast. Kon Lou Mien is so d yummers! (I shall post the food pics separately. oolala)

After breakfast, we hit the road! Peace road to be exact!

On the way

On the way up, we managed to make a stop at the famous Tamparulli bridge.

Took some photos before continuing our journey up. :)

Kundasang is basically the foot of Mount Kinabalu. Chandra drove us all the way up to the lookout point so we could get a first class view of the peak of Mt Kinabalu.

As we drove further up, the leaves around us became thinner. Being surrounded by pine trees, it was like we were in New Zealand or something. So beautiful!

Finally! We're here!!!

As the winds blew and the clouds parted, we finally found what we travelled so far to see.

The majestic Mount Kinabalu!

Hewwo Mt Kinabalu, my Bikenut said we should conquer you next year! What say you?

...to be continued

BEP and Crabs

I had the awesomest weekend!

In a last minute spur of the moment act, my bikenut bought us tix to watch BEP on Friday... and actually, that's the first ever concert I've been to lorrrr!!!! Bumped into EmoQueen (been awhile since I used that nick :P) at Pyramid's toilet while on my way to meet TheSkinnyOne and Babygirl. Yeah, weird and somewhat disturbing bcos she bumped into another friend on her way out of said toilet. O_o

While the sound system sucked, and the videographer sucked even more, the Black Eyed Peas did not dissapoint! Their showmanship and energy was awesomeeeeee. Will.I.am's solo bit made me wish he was a resident DJ at one of our clubs. lololol!

Oh, and so many ppl knew the words to Fergie's 'Big Girls Don't Cry'... even the duuudessssss!

After a night of butt aching fence sitting (yea, I sat on a high fence so I could see the stage. it was one of the most uncomfortable sitting positions ever because the raillings were so thin!!! doesn't help that I don't have much padding on my ahem... ifyouknowwhatimean) and crazy jumping/dancing, I woke up the next day to head over to none other than the island of crabsssss.... Pulau Ketam!

Eeenie meenie mainie moe, which one should I steam, stirfry and swallow? BUAHAHAHA!

Wahey! We ladybugs may have tiny butts but at least it's still cute! ;P
Who knew Pulau Ketam could be so scenic.

Ah, what a weekend...
